About Little While House

OUR STORY

We are the Menser Family. We stepped into the world of foster care in early 2020 by becoming a licensed foster family with Guilford County in North Carolina. Our eyes were opened to the incredible needs of this community and we were forever changed. Over the past several years we have worked to support other foster families, social workers, and the families of those with children in foster care.

Our hope at Little While House is to strengthen families and prevent children from entering foster care by providing upstream support and resources. We aim to equip families with the tools they need to successfully navigate their case plans, reunite with their children, and build strong, stable homes post-reunification.

We believe that lasting change requires community involvement and foster families play a vital role in this mission—not only by providing temporary care but by partnering in the work of family preservation. By fostering connections between biological and foster families, we hope to create a support network that encourages reunification and long-term stability.

We plan build upon our already established relationships with our local social worker community by offering services that support that sustain them in their vital roles.

We aim to do these things through education and rallying community support as we strive to bridge the gap between families in crisis and those willing to help. Through initiatives like direct family intervention, foster family engagement and social worker support we will work to create a place of refuge and restoration, leading to lasting change.

Our immediate next step will be to complete the process to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
